Kaipara ki Mahurangi has some of the best access to New Zealand’s marine environment. The Hauraki Gulf contains large marine Conservation areas. Two of these are right on our coast, Goat Island Marine Reserve and Tawharanui Auckland Regional Park. Snorkeling is incredible, get a view of what the undisturbed marine environment looks like. We also have one of the world’s largest on-shore Gannet colonies on our coasts at Muriwai. With a little bit more effort, we can hook you up with nighttime kiwi tours.

I will take you to some local vineyards where you can taste New Zealand’s specialty varieties and a few local oddities. Check out our two wine regions – Kumeu (including Soljans, Westbrook, Kumeu River, Hunting Lodge at Matua) and Matakana (including Matakana Estate, Brick Bay, Heron’s Flight) Maybe take in the scenery or if you want, stop for a long (or quick) lunch.
The area is littered with idyllic spots for a long lunch or dinner – cafes, wineries, pubs and food spots abound. Try out New Zealand’s finest produce prepared in the local countryside.
